Lyrics
Spider next to you on the wall. Kill it! Grab the nearest shoe and grind it into dust. Did you spare a thought for the spider's soul? Or that of the dog whose remains lie in the road? You could care less where they go. It's never occurred to you before. What about the soldier hit by an IED, reduced to a pile of limbs and guts rotting in the street? What makes we humans so special that only we could reach an afterlife? Understand that I want so badly to believe, but the faith to which you cling strikes me as absurd. I can't pretend to understand the universe, but I can't bring myself to believe in fairytales, either. Don't expect to register a thing beyond your final breath. You had no consciousness before birth. What makes you think you'll have it in death? Better resolve to get it all in. Live your best life while you still can. You were nothing before you lived, and when you die you will become nothing.
